Finger Biscuits

THE ART OF FLOUR, BUTTER AND MOLASSES

This is my mom’s recipe. Verbatim. As written on a sheet of notebook paper.

 1. HEAT OVEN TO 500° F.

 2. MELT MARGARINE IN PAN.

3. PUT SELF-RISING FLOUR IN MIXING BOWL. ADD JUST ENOUGH COLD WATER TO BE OF KNEADING CONSISTANCY. KNEAD.

4. PAT OUT BISCUIT BATTER IN A LONG RECTANGLE ON A FLOURED SURFACE.

5. CUT RECTANGLE INTO NARROW STRIPS (FINGERS).

6. ROLL FINGER BISCUITS IN PAN OF MELTED MARGARINE.

7. PLACE BUTTERED FINGER BISCUITS IN BAKING DISH. PLACE DISH IN OVEN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES.

 8. SERVE WITH SORGHUM SYRUP THAT HAS HAD MARGARINE ADDED TO IT.
